Students visit Lehigh University

Our 4th and 5th grade Visual Arts Majors had the incredible opportunity to visit the Lehigh Valley University Galleries to learn about and celebrate the life and work of the extraordinary Nellie Mae Rowe. This self-taught artist transformed everyday materials into bold, colorful expressions of her creativity, identity, and culture.

A huge thank you to the education department at Lehigh Valley University Galleries for making this experience possible!  Collaborations like these are so important for our young artists, showing them how art connects to history, community, and self-expression.

Why does this matter? Because connecting students with local institutions and inspiring artists like Nellie Mae Rowe empowers them to dream big, create boldly, and see themselves as part of the artistic legacy.
We are beyond excited for the Black History Month exhibition these talented students are preparing, inspired by Rowe’s vibrant, joyful art. Get ready for something truly magical!
